Blue Sky Papers, a small creative business in Alpharetta, is looking for a focused and detail-oriented, self starter to join our team full-time to assist creating handmade books. Our ideal candidate is someone who would be able to flourish wearing many hats, who is focused on efficiency and who works well under pressure in a quiet but busy environment. We need an independent worker, one who likes to take ownership while being able to accept instruction well. Attention to detail and the love of working with your hands are a must.

Blue Sky Papers is a small bookbindery and custom goods creator, and we sell our creations on our website, www.blueskypapers.com, etsy.com and other channels. We are a woman-owned and lead business.

On our website, we also retail a curated selection of other custom goods from other artists.

Our clients include brides, individuals planning events/parties/weddings/funerals, event planners, funeral homes, corporations, stores, etc.

Bookbinder position :

This open position consists of  some or all of the following responsibilities: making books/products, prepping material for production and personalizing orders (via hot stamping/embossing).

PRIMARY DAILY TASKS:
Product Creation/Book Binding:
—- Preparing raw materials for production
—- Using small machinery and tools to bind/make & personalize goods
—- Pulling products from inventory & assembling products when needed
—- Following production schedule to ensure all order deadlines are met

REQUIREMENTS:
– Great attention to detail
– Good problem solving skills
– Likes to work with hands
– Possesses good eye-hand coordination
– Works well in fast-paced environment and under pressure
– Handles multi-tasking with ease
– Likes to learn — rewarded from learning new skills & mastering machinery
– Looks for ways to improve processes and production outcomes
– Maintains focus in repetitive activities
– Learns new techniques and product lines quickly
– Has excellent communication skills
– Works well with others in a positive, team environment
– Works well independently and is comfortable with occasional ambiguity common in small businesses
– Has strong computer skills — internet, data entry, etc
– Is ethical and driven to perform well
– Is prompt and reliable

Good candidates often have printing or print shop experience, sewing/seamstress experience, or other experience working with their hands.
