Wedding Place Cards from Leather Scraps
Wedding Place Cards from Leather Scraps are a modern twist to classic wedding décor. Depending on how it’s styled leather place cards could feel rustic or contemporary and adds an interesting layer of texture to your table.

There are so many details that go into planning a wedding, and Wedding Place Cards are just one little detail of your day. Actually, a pretty important part of it, as it serves as ‘function and fashion’ – instructing your guest where to sit, as well as a decorative display to your tablescape. AND they make for a fun little ‘take away’ for your guest too.
Traditionally, brides and grooms opt for paper place cards, but since the birth of Pinterest (and wedding blogs) we have seen the industry get more creative with Wedding Place Cards. And while we are all for being creative, we love being resourceful, too! Considering we are a bookbindery that makes lots of leather journals, we have A LOT of leather scraps around our studio. We have decided to start selling these leather scraps over on our etsy – ClaireMagnolia.

There are so many things that you could use the scraps for (jewelry, tags, embellishments, etc.) but we thought using the leather scraps to make Wedding Place Cards would be a simple, yet chic DIY for a wedding. Depending on how you style these leather name cards, they would be great for a rustic wedding or even a fine art - old world romance wedding.

Creating the place cards are easy, all you need is sharp scissors, acrylic paint, ink or permanent paint maker, and a pencil if you don’t want to ‘free-hand’ writing the names.

I suggest practicing writing/painting out the names on paper first, then on a piece of leather before you go straight to making your wedding place cards. That way you can get in ‘the zone’ and get a feel for the texture of the leather first. Also, experiment with using paint, ink and marker to figure out which tool is going to work best for you.
