Grandparent Gift Ideas
Grandparent Gift Ideas are often attributed to the typical golf or garden themed items, or art work made by the little ones in the family, but as a grown-up grandchild, what do you give your grandparents for Grandparents Day, their birthday, or other holidays?
As adults, we're no longer making handprint ornaments, or writing little poems about Grandma's secret family recipes, but my husband and I still want to show appreciation for our grandparents in a personal, but sophisticated and elegant way, so we decided on this gorgeous and classic leather photo album as a way to show our love for their generosity and kindness.
My husband’s grandparents are always sending us little tokens of love in the mail; whether it’s a handwritten note, a newspaper clipping of interest, or a book on gardening, they’re experts on understanding the value and love of a receiving snail mail.
We thought, what better way to celebrate Grandparents Day (September 7 this year, so mark your calendar!!), then by sending them a little old-school mail to say thanks after they graciously hosted us for a few days this summer in which they bestowed a treasure of knowledge on farming and cooking and marriage upon us.
At one point during our stay, I was sitting in the living room one afternoon, and my husband's grandmother, or Grammy as he affectionately still calls her, brought out a few little keepsakes here and there. Family photos from past vacations, a recent newspaper clipping about the achievements of my husband's cousin, a recipe for us to take back with us.
I kept thinking, she needs a good album to store some of these little notes and photos from the family, especially now with the arrival of great grand babies in the family. These two are so in love with their family and thankful for the ability to witness grandchildren graduating, getting married, or having children. I really wanted them to have something nice and personal to store their keepsakes.
This album is perfect with their family name embossed on the cover, and their own names in gold on the back as well. We sent them a handwritten note along with some photos from our stay with them to get them started.

Grandparent Gift Ideas for a Photo Album or Scrapbook
- include photos from any family events that grandparents weren't able to attend
- have a recent graduate in the family? Take a photo of them with their diploma
- book a generational family photo session with a local photographer.
- take photos of anything you've created as a result of wisdom, instructions, or recipes that your grandparents gave you
- print your instagram shots if your grandparents aren't social media savvy. They love seeing the day to day, especially if they don't live close by.
- write a long letter describing the latest going-ons and why you appreciate your grandparents
- clippings on interesting news or magazine articles they would appreciate or find amusing
