Destination Wedding Welcome Gifts and Favors Guest will Actually Use

Looking for Destination Wedding Welcome Gifts and Favors that your guest will actually use? Today, I am sharing with you a few of the ideas that I came up with for our Icelandic elopement. Destination-Wedding-Welcome-Gifts-Favors_Blue-Sky-Papers
It was really important to my husband and I to make sure we were spending our money efficiently for our wedding. This was a large part of our reasoning for choosing to do a destination wedding. We figured if we are going to spend thousands of dollars anyways, we would rather a week long experience, rather than a one-day shin-dig. (I’m all for all types of weddings, big- small – destination... It should be w h a t e v e r you want!)

This method of planning for efficiency applied to our welcome gifts and wedding favors as well, if we were going to spend the money, we wanted it to be something that guests would actually (hopefully) use. Yet also, something that they would want to keep and not toss before they board the plane back home. If that happened, in our heads, it would literally just be like us throwing our money away.

We ended up having only 20 guests at the wedding, so this allowed us to spend the time and money to do something extra special, and custom for our guests. We decided on leather passports and luggage tags for the welcome gifts. Not only did it fit the theme of a destination wedding, but also it was something that they could immediately put to use!

Chris (my hsuband) and I choose to have 'Let the Adventure Begin' stamped on each one, as "marriage being our the greatest adventure yet" is something we kept saying to each other throughout planning (it was also what we put on our save the dates).

We (accidentally) choose Easter weekend to get married (it was the same day we got engaged the year before)  so we put the passport and luggage tags into a little gift bag with easter eggs full of candies, advil, and emergency packets.
The passport & luggage tags were a Blue Sky Papers custom project. If interested in a custom project email: service@blueskypapers.com ready to ship leather passports can be purchased here

Since we went all out with the welcome gifts, we kept it farely simple with the wedding favor. We choose little slices of agate, that we ordered off amazon. I hand lettered everyones name on one and they served as place seating at the dinner table. So it was still practicle for us, but a little charm that we hoped the guests would hang on to  as well.

Like I said before, your wedding should be what you want, and you should spend your money for that day however you wish. But for us, it wasn't just about being wasteful with our money, we just didn't want to be wasteful in general. Think about weddings and how much stuff gets thrown away at the end of the day. It was important to us to cut down on waste as much as possible, and I encourage you to do that as well!
