Bound with Love Vol. 2 : Chris + Court's Icelandic Engagement Album

Bound with Love is a series that we started to showcase love. Our love for books, book making and the lovely folks who use them! Today we are back with Vol. 2 of this series featuring recently engaged couple Courtney and Chris who created an Engagement Photo Album from their trip to Iceland.

{ It would be hard for me to write this blog post without clarifying that I am actually Courtney. I have not formally introduced myself on this blog (yet) but will. I’m the content marketing Manager @ BSP and write for this blog. In the mean time you can learn all about me over on my personal blog My Friend Court. Anywho…}

 Bound with Love an Iceland Engagement album

In April, Chris and I took a trip of a lifetime to Iceland, where we ventured all about for 8 days and most importantly, GOT ENGAGED! I’m going to share with you a little bit about our love story and show you this super awesome photo album I made us with pictures from our trip.

I actually ordered this Acrylic Book before I even started working at Blue Sky Papers. When our owner, Courtney showed it to me I fell in love and knew I NEEDED one. I’ve had it since the beginning of the year but felt a lot of pressure to save it for something special. I mean, it’s such a unique book and every page needs to be PERFECT! For whatever reason, I choose to have it made with blue pages but it worked out great. As an ice-y blue acrylic book makes for the perfect Iceland photo album.

Just a little FYI in case your considering ordering one for yourself…you can actually get these acrylic books engraved with anything you would want. So if I would have known I was going to use this for our Iceland trip, I probably would have gotten the front cover engraved with something.

Going back to where it all started, Chris and myself met at the end of 8th grade, when he transferred to my school from a private school for the last month before summer vacation. I suppose you could say that this is where our love story began. We had switched phone numbers and AIM screen names (remember those?!) and became best little buds in no time.

We remained close friends all through high school (never dating) and ended up going to the same college, Georgia State University. Our freshmen year of college we were dorm room neighbors (we requested it!) but still never dated. Chris and I remained friends through college but drifted a bit. Fast forward to senior year and we randomly signed up for the same photography class. This is where our love really began to grow.

We spent the whole semester hanging out, going on photo adventures and developing film in the dark room. At the end of that semester I decided to move home to try to save some money. Chris helped me move all my stuff back home and get settled in. I realized then he was the only guy in my life that was consistently there for me rain or shine and he truly was my best friend (had been for years). One night out with a group of friends at a bar I kissed him (I just couldn’t help it!) and we’ve been inseparable ever since. That was over 6 years ago.

We booked this Iceland trip just because we love to travel and it had been a while since we had been anywhere internationally. Chris figured this would be a great opportunity to propose, so he made it happen! He waited towards the end of our trip to pop the question and took me back to the top of my favorite waterfall named Seljalandsfoss (Icelandic words are hard to pronounce!). It was a magical moment for sure, being on an epic adventure with my best friend overlooking a crazy Game of Thrones-esq landscape getting proposed to! I feel like the luckiest gal in the world.

After sorting through our photos/editing/printing them out it dawned on me they would go perfectly in my Blue Acrylic Book. So I busted out my watercolors, double sided tape, paint and some markers and got to work!

The reason why I LOVE the Acrylic book so much is because of the paper. It has nice thick watercolor paper that won’t bleed when I paint on it or use markers, which is so great! I wouldn’t consider myself a scrap booker per say but I have always loved to make little memory books like this- merging art, photography and scrapbooking into one and this paper can definitely handle all of that.
