Creating the Book Before an Event

If you plan on creating the book in advance of your occasion, we recommend you:

  • mail the tributettes, our Sample Letter, and a return envelope to each participant well in advance of your completion date (tributette-matching envelopes are available for purchase)
    • RSVP dates or deadlines are recommended
    • assign the tributettes by the number of the books' creators (see Creating the Book at an Event for suggestions on manageming an odd number of guests to the number of tributettes)
  • adhere the book at the event by removing the tape-backing and applying them to the pages, or assemble and give the book to the guest-of-honor after the event (see Sample Layouts for suggestions)

What is silk dupioni? It is a shimmering silk that is created by weaving silk threads of two different colors into a weave that seems to change colors as the silk is moved around in different lights. Constructed with threads made from rough silk fibers that are harvested from double cocoons or single cocoons that are spun side by side and interlocked, silk dupioni generally employs a set of vibrant colors in the weave. Along with creating the shimmering effect, the choice of two different colors of rough silk fiber help to create a crisp drape quality to the finished fabric.

Our silk dupioni ribbon is a delicate raw silk with chunks and pleasurable imperfections and a reflectant sheen.  The delicacy of the ribbon can cause fraying on the edges if handled a lot.  The ribbon is not bound in so you can always slide the bow off the book during use and then reapplied for greater preservation.
