Blue Sky Papers: Personalized, custom, quick.
Not only do we help you design a custom and personalized guest book. As we do with all our clients, we want to help you get the most out of your guest book by sharing a few easy ideas that will make a big different in getting the results you want with your guest book.
Ask for what you want
Help guide your guests by directing them with a sign. If you are looking specifically for messages, tell them so. Or, if you just want name and address, let them know.
Print out your directions on a letter sized piece of paper and place in a 8×10 frame to go on the guest book table. Microsoft Word has fun fonts… and make your text BIG. Suggested directions include: “Please share your wedding wishes and advice with the bride and groom.” Or “Please share a message in memory of our loved one.”
Set an example
The classic case of “follow the leader” applies here. Set an example for your guests so they can visualize what you are looking for. Have a close friend or a relative be the first to write in your guest book, following your desired format. All the others will follow suit.
Employ the DJ/Minister/Announcer
Ask the person with everyone’s attention to announce the guest book and ask them to write in it, explaining what you want and its importance. Make this announcement more than once.
Location, Location, Location
Have your book on a table near the entrance or in an obvious location in a high traffic area. Perhaps, share this table with other items of interest, such as family photos or card holders. It also helps to have a guest book attendant.
Have fun with it
If you are looking to be creative, provide the necessary tools. Want your guests to sketch a drawing? Then provide colored pencils, for example.

Being that we are in the guest book business, we each have an affection for beautiful books to record the “comings and goings” in our own homes. From weekend family visits, to out-of-town friends driving through, to dinner parties… we capture the who, the when, and the wonders of the visit in our house guest book. As a dear friend has said, “It’s like the year-round Christmas card collection.” We are so fortunate to have her featured in many areas of our “House Diary!”

Better Homes & Gardens, November 2010
Better Homes & Gardens chose the red raspberry silk dupioni fresh guest book with unlined pages to feature in their November 2010 magazine. Lesley M. M. Blume’s “Let’s Bring Back”, Chronicle Books.

Want to date, but are too busy trying to save the planet? Grab a lover, for what better night than tonight for a date with the stars, all the while, supporting one of the most wide-spread acts of environmentalism, Earth hour. 8:25 tonight, grab a glass of wine, popcorn, camera, candles, and friends to step outside and watch the lights go out and the stars shine bright. Even in the city, big corporations celebrate Earth Hour by turning off their lights to surrender their power to the Earth. Light might be shed enough to catch glimpse of a twinkling star. What does darkness look like where you live?

Men are hard to shop for, well, unless they play golf. Since most of them do, or wish they did, here is “cool stuff wrapped in monogrammed towels” Part 2. (Check out part 1, for bridesmaids, here.) The idea came to me when I came across the USGA Official Scorebook and Rules Book found here at BlueSkyPapers. Featuring BSP’s classy Silver Pen. Wrap these items in a 100% bamboo fiber, eco-friendly, monogrammed golf towel from livingecho, and those groomsmen will be more than happy to dance the chicken at your wedding.
